Detroit Gear & Machine Co. Transmissions - Looking for info

I’m wondering if there is any information out there regarding the 3-speed DG&M Co. transmissions used in many 1927-1930 Peerless models. I haven’t been able to find much of anything out there. From what I can tell based on a parts interchange book, this transmission was primarily used by Peerless, Auburn, and Hupp during that timeframe on both 6 and 8 cylinder cars. The Peerless models that I see listed with that same transmission are the 60,80,90 and possibly later 61, 91, and 8-125 with different main shaft combinations. Even an exploded parts diagram would be more information than I’ve been able to find thus far.

Travis, is this the transmission in your Hupp? I would also post to the ACD club.

It is. I figure it can’t hurt to widen the search. Good point about the ACD club, maybe they have more surviving documentation than Hupp. There is so little information out there about Detroit Gear and Machine. Other than the fact that they were bought out by Warner in the late 20’s, I know next to nothing.

Did you look to see if there is a patent number on the transmission? You might be able to look up the patent for the transmission.
